Facilities --- Front of North Coogee Building

Quickstep has a 4000 sqm fully-equipped aerospace-grade composites manufacturing facility at North Coogee in Western Australia, which is accredited to international AS9100/ISO9001:2000 quality standards. 

In June 2011 the facility received Qualified Part List (QPL) qualification from Northrop Grumman Corporation as part of Quickstep's participation in the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter manufacturing program. 

Quickstep is establishing a new 4000 sqm aerospace composite manufacturing plant at Bankstown in south-west Sydney, New South Wales, which is scheduled to be ready for full scale aerospace manufacturing by the second half of 2012, with the same levels of quality accreditation as the North Coogee facility.  

These facilities position Quickstep as Australia's largest independent advanced composite manufacturer, capable of almost all facets of aerospace and defence composite manufacturing contract work.    

Capabilities:

  • Design, production engineering, manufacture and testing of advanced composite components to aerospace and defence-quality standards
  • Full Catia V5 R19 with CPD workbench for composite ply development integrated with manufacturing and testing equipment
  • Very high accuracy 5 Axis Breton Milling Machine - Bed 4.5m x 2.5m x 1.5m - Tolerance ±7 microns/m (North Coogee) and 1 Breton 5 Axis Milling Machine - Bed 8m x 3.5m x 1.3m (Bankstown)
  • Coordinate Measuring Machines - Perth Wenzel 1.5m x 2.5m x 1.2m - Bankstown Wenzel 3m x 6m x 2m 
  • NDT Ultrasonic inspection, 2 axis NDT, TT and UT and 10 axis NDT and TT 
  • Fully-trained professional team offering a combined 150 years of aerospace design and production experience (mostly ex Airbus)
  • 4,000 square metre factory facility with a further 4,000sqm under development in Bankstown NSW which is expected to be fully commissioned and qualified by the end of 2012
  • Two 8x3m autoclaves
  • One 5.3x2.5m autoclave
  • Quickstep Process out-of-autoclave composites manufacturing technology
