Nathan of Quickstep

Nathan Howell

I’m a lead engineer and I look after a team of machine programmers and engineers working on industrial automation. There’s quite a bit involved in my role and every day is different – but I love seeing it all come together. And working with robotics is never dull!

Ocean to aerospace

I studied mechatronic engineering, which has elements of both mechanical and electrical engineering. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do when I left school, but I love the variety involved with mechatronics, so I think I made the right decision. I used to work with marine products, so I’ve moved from ocean to aerospace.

Pets and people

I love animals, especially my dog. I live near the bush, so naturally one of my hobbies is bushwalking. I also enjoy skiing and anything to do with the ocean. The best thing about work is the variety and the great group of people, which makes it easy to drag myself away from my hobbies. There’s such diversity of backgrounds and interests – and that makes it a nice place to be.
