
Kym Osley AM, CSC
NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Kym has more than 43 years’ experience with Defence and Defence Industry, and since 2015 has been a senior member of the Canberra practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He brings extensive experience in the Defence and aerospace industry sectors, as well as in strategic planning, long term Defence acquisition planning and complex program management.
Kym has previously been the Head of the Australian F-35 program, a $17B aerospace program that has delivered more than $1.4Bn of Australian industry contracts to date. In this role, he was Australia’s representative on the Executive Steering Board that oversaw the $400+Billion International F-35 Program. He has also been a senior military adviser to Defence Industry Division within the Department of Defence and has developed strategies for enhancing Defence industry exports and engaged with foreign militaries and international aerospace companies.
In recent years, Kym has been a strategic adviser to Defence on several projects and activities, including supporting the force design process by which Defence capabilities are prioritised and programmed. He was awarded a Defence Industry Service Commendation in 2019 by the Minister for Defence for his work over the period 2016-2019 in strategic acquisition planning for Defence.
During his career Kym managed and supported large and complex Defence acquisition projects in successive Defence capability development positions from the early 1990s and has extensive knowledge of the UK and US aerospace and military markets gained while working in both these countries. He has lectured on complex program management at the Australian National University, the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies and to a Defence-sponsored Masters in Complex Program Management Course.
Kym is a member of the PwC Global Government Defence Network Board responsible for promoting innovation and improved support to Defence across the PwC firms in more than 50 countries. He is a Graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
Kym is also the Chair of the Australian Air Force Cadets Foundation Board, which is the most senior governance arrangement for the 7,800 strong Australian Air Force Cadet organisation. In 1997, Kym was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross for services to Air Force strategic planning and was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2008 for his services to Air Combat.
