Quickstep, recently worked with the Business Council of Australia (BCA) to better understand growth in the Geelong area following the closure of the Ford Automotive facilities back in 2015. We established our Global R&D and technology Centre at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus in 2015, so have seen the positive changes in the area. We are proud to have been asked to support the BCA video “A Quickstep into creating more high-skilled local jobs” focusing on the creation of high-skilled local talent in Geelong.

Flying the flag for Australia’s defence industry in the USA

In early October, Australia’s Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Melissa Price MP, travelled to the United States to advocate for more Australian work in the global F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.  While in the US, the minister met with Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, the Hon Ellen M. Lord to discuss current and future Australian industry involvement in F-35 production.

Australian companies bid to win more Defence work- Australian Financial Review

The 11 companies identified who could increase their participation are Ferra Engineering,  Levett Engineering, Lovitt Technologies, Varley, Marand, Quickstep, RUAG, Nupress, AW Bell, BAE Systems Australia and Cablex. Many are already key suppliers to the Lockheed Martin manufactured aircraft.
