| By 2020 it is expected that there will be three times the number of people flying as there are in 2008. The carbon dioxide emissions with be enormous. This is driving efficiency in aircraft and engine design. New aircraft, such as the Boeing 787 are made of composite materials which are lighter than current materials used for building aircraft.
